Effective when The Archive launches

Archive Guidelines

How families may share excerpts publicly through The Archive. Private As Remembered projects are unaffected — these rules apply only to opt-in public submissions.

1. Opt-in only

Nothing from your project is published without explicit approval from the project’s Director. Each submission requires a separate consent action. Bulk or automatic publishing is not supported.

2. Curated excerpts, not raw uploads

Archive entries are short, edited excerpts — typically a narrative paragraph or a carefully chosen quote with framing context. We do not publish full session audio, complete transcripts, or entire Series Bibles.

3. Living relatives

When a submission names or clearly identifies living people:

  • The Director confirms they have permission to share, or redacts identifying details
  • We encourage focusing on the storyteller’s voice and historical context rather than private disputes
  • As Remembered may decline publication that could reasonably harm or harass a living person

4. Sensitive topics

Oral history includes trauma, illness, legal matters, and contested family memory. Submissions about such topics are allowed when shared with care. We may ask for additional context, redaction, or decline publication that appears exploitative or lacks adequate consent.

5. Accuracy and representation

Shared excerpts should reflect what was said in the underlying recording. AI-generated narrative text published to The Archive must be labeled if it has been substantially rewritten from the transcript. Do not present generated prose as a verbatim quote.

6. Attribution

Published pieces display the family or Director name only as the submitter chooses (e.g. “The Okonkwo family”). Individual storytellers are credited when appropriate. As Remembered’s role as platform is disclosed.

7. Withdrawal

Families may request removal of any Archive entry at any time. We will remove published excerpts within a reasonable period and cease displaying them in promotional materials.

8. Moderation

As Remembered reserves the right to decline or remove submissions that violate these guidelines, our Terms of Service, or applicable law. We will explain the reason when possible.

9. No commercial resale

Archive excerpts are shared for inspiration and education. Submitters grant As Remembered permission to display submitted text on the marketing site and in product examples. We do not sell individual family stories to third parties.
