The Archive
The Archive is our planned public-facing collection of family-history excerpts — stories families choose to share, with consent and context intact. It is inspiration, not exposure by default.
Why it exists
Private family work happens inside As Remembered every day. Some families will want to show others what is possible — a paragraph from a grandfather’s interview, a vignette about immigration, a lesson passed down through generations — without handing over raw recordings or opening their entire project to the world.
The Archive is for that moment: curated, opt-in, and respectful of the people still living in the stories.
What The Archive is not
- Not a default publication of your uploads — nothing leaves your project without explicit Director approval
- Not a social feed of unedited audio
- Not a genealogy database scraped from private accounts
- Not a replacement for your private Series Bible
What it could include
When we launch, submissions will be short, contextual excerpts — often drawn from generated narratives or carefully chosen transcript passages — accompanied by:
- Family-provided title and framing note
- Redaction options for living relatives
- Clear attribution (e.g. “shared with permission by the Okonkwo family”)
- A link back to As Remembered for families starting their own project
Consent first
Every public excerpt will require documented opt-in from the project’s Director. We are writing detailed Archive Guidelines before any submission goes live — covering living relatives, sensitive topics, and the right to withdraw shared material at any time.
Timeline
The Archive ships after private beta stabilizes. Today, all As Remembered projects are private to their families. If you are interested in contributing a story when we open submissions — or partnering as an oral-history organization — reach out via Contact.
