Terms of Service

Last updated: September 2026  ·  Applies during private beta; may change before public launch.

1. Agreement

As Remembered (“Service”) is operated by As Remembered LLC, a Florida limited liability company (“we”, “us”). By accessing the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. During private beta, we may provide supplemental participation terms when inviting you to a cohort.

2. The Service

As Remembered helps families capture oral-history audio, produce transcripts, extract structured information, resolve contradictions, connect related stories, and generate narrative documents. Features may change during beta. We will make reasonable efforts to notify active users of material changes.

3. Accounts

You sign in through our authentication provider. You are responsible for safeguarding your account and for activity under it. Each family project is managed by a Director account. Storytellers may contribute via recording links without creating their own account, as enabled by the Director.

4. Your content

You retain ownership of audio, transcripts, extracted data, and narratives you create (“Your Content”). You grant As Remembered a limited license to host, process, transcribe, analyze, and display Your Content solely to provide the Service to you — including sending audio to transcription providers and text to AI extraction services as described in our Privacy Policy.

You represent that you have the rights and permissions needed to upload and process Your Content, including consent from people recorded where required by law.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Upload content that is illegal, harassing, or infringes others’ rights
  • Attempt to access another user’s data
  • Reverse engineer or abuse the Service or its APIs
  • Use the Service to build a competing product using our systems

6. AI-assisted features

Transcription, extraction, linking suggestions, and generated narratives are assistive. They may contain errors. You are responsible for reviewing outputs before relying on them for genealogical, legal, or publication purposes. As Remembered does not guarantee factual accuracy of AI-generated material. See Ethical AI for how we think about responsible use.

7. Subscriptions and billing

Pro subscriptions, when available, are billed through Stripe at the prices shown at checkout. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. You may cancel through the customer portal; cancellation stops future charges but does not delete Your Content. Refund policy will be stated at checkout when paid plans launch.

8. Beta disclaimer

During beta, the Service is provided “as is” without warranties of uninterrupted availability, perfect transcription, or permanent audio retention. We work toward durable storage and reliable playback, but beta users should maintain their own backups of irreplaceable recordings.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, As Remembered and its operators are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the Service. Our aggregate liability for any claim related to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or fifty U.S. dollars if you have not paid us.

10. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for violation of these Terms. Upon termination, you may request deletion of Your Content per our Privacy Policy.

11. Changes

We may update these Terms. Material changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute arising from these Terms or the Service will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Florida, and you and As Remembered LLC consent to their jurisdiction.

13. Contact

Questions about these Terms: hello@astoldby.app, or write to As Remembered LLC, Florida, USA.
