Our story
Almost every family has the same unfinished sentence: “We should record Grandma’s stories before it’s too late.” As Remembered exists because that sentence rarely becomes a finished archive — not from lack of love, but because the path from conversation to legacy feels overwhelming.
The gap we kept seeing
Voice memos get lost in camera rolls. Group chats bury the one anecdote that mattered. A shoebox of cassettes becomes nobody’s project. Even when families do record elders, they are left with hours of audio and no structure — no cross-referenced timeline, no way to ask “who said they met in 1985?” across two different interviews.
Oral history is intimate, uneven, and spoken in fragments. That is not a bug. It is how memory actually works. The failure mode is tooling that expects families to behave like archivists on day one.
What we are building
As Remembered is an AI-assisted platform that meets families where they already gather — around a kitchen table, on a holiday call, with a phone on the table — and turns those conversations into something durable:
- Transcripts that attribute every line to the right speaker
- A Series Bible of people, places, dates, and events extracted from what was actually said
- Tools for a Director (the family organizer) to resolve contradictions and connect the same relationship across sessions
- Narrative drafts and exports families can print, share, and pass down
Our north star
We are not building a flat spreadsheet of names. We are building a family history graph over time — people and relationships in every direction, years and events that accumulate across sessions and generations.
Many families will only ever document an inner circle. That is enough. The product should still feel worth the effort on session one.
A principle we will not compromise
Messy capture, structured retrieval. Recordings stay human and oral. The software wins on how you search, connect, and verify later — not on pretending the first pass of AI extraction is gospel.
When two relatives remember a year differently, As Remembered surfaces the conflict for a person to resolve. When the same love story appears in Mom’s session and Dad’s, linking suggests the connection; the family confirms it. AI proposes. People decide.
Who As Remembered is for
Directors
The family member who says “I’ll organize this.” They upload sessions, review extractions, resolve conflicts, and approve connections between stories.
Storytellers
Parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles — anyone with stories to tell. They can record through a simple link without needing their own account.
Where we are today
As Remembered is in private beta. Core capture, transcription, extraction, linking, and export work end-to-end; we are hardening production reliability, audio retention, and the last mile of polish before a wider launch.
If this resonates — if you have been carrying that unfinished sentence — we would be glad to hear from you.
